Third Reich Berlin

Modern Berlin seems a lifetime away from what it was during the Third Reich and Second World War but the traces of the Nazi regime and the suffering it caused are everywhere.
On this tour we ask ourselves how it all happened. How did a nation of people known for their level-headed thinking allow the greatest tragedy of the 20th Century to occur? How could the world lie sleeping while the Nazis built their war machine and solidified power?
The SS and Gestapo headquarters was at one time the most feared address in Nazi Germany. Today, the basement remains of these two buildings house impressive exhibits of the Nazis’ rise to power. Here we examine Hitler’s consolidation of power through the elimination of the SA leadership and the rise of the SS, (Schutz Staffel or Protection Squad).
Berlin had a thriving Jewish community prior to the Nazis coming to power – we examine their fate under the Third Reich as we explore the old Jewish district and Berlin’s re-emerging Jewish culture today.
From the sick genius of Goebbels’ Propaganda Ministry to Himmler’s SS and secret state police (The Gestapo), from Goering’s elite Air Force to Hitler’s master plan, we uncover the heart of darkness that transformed a WWI scarred country into the near triumphant victors of WWII and finally answer the question: could it happen again?
