English Guides:

Andrew

ANDREW was passing through Berlin in 1996, and obviously at a very slow pace because many years later he is still here. Late at night he wearily admits that Berlin may very well be the place where sometime in the not too distant future he will be buried. her is still uncertain whether is it fate or simply the cheap rent that keeps him here. See what other people have to say about Andrew!

Annabel

Annabel first visited Berlin when she was 16, and swore to herself then that she would move here one day – the city made a big impression on the girl from the faraway city of Perth, Australia! Ten years, two degrees and much travelling later, she finally made it here in 2006 and is more in love with the city than ever. Annabel’s passion for history, languages, performing and meeting people from around the world mean that being a New Berlin tour guide is the perfect way for her to spend her time, and she has no intention of leaving anytime soon – this fascinating city has far too much to offer! See what other people have to say about Annabel!

maria_square.jpg

Maria is half Swedish, half Japanese. Born and raised in Sweden. When she was 14 a modelling scout discovered her because she was so tall and skinny and she went to Paris and Milan to work as a catwalk model. Maria did not like the job because it required staying skinny and starving. She went to London where she studied Drama and for a while she worked as an actress. Maria appeared in several big movies like Mission Impossible and Evita, but not exactly starring roles. Blink and you'll miss her. She was more proud of her independent theatre roles. Especially her own one woman show: "Dolly" that she took to the Edinburgh Fringe Theatre Festival. To make ends meet she started taking tourists around London and also reporting for a Swedish Rock Magazine. It was during one of her assignments that she met a German Rock star. Fell in love with him and started visiting him in Berlin. Fell out of love with the Rock star, but fell in love with his city. She decided to move here and tell everyone what a fantastic city Berlin is.

matti_square.jpg

MATTI was born in Berlin when it was still divided into an eastern and a western part – coming into the world on the communist side of the iron curtain. Fortunately the situation changed when he was one year old and so he was able to grow up in this city when it went through some of its craziest years – he saw Berlin growing together, changing its face rapidly and fell in love with it. Now he’s eager to tell the people about the city he spent most of his life in and help them understand why Berlin is such an exciting and interesting place to live in.
