Private Tours for School Groups Convertir en PDF Version imprimable Suggérer par mail

Let SANDEMANs NEW BERLIN give your school group a fascinating tour to bring Germany’s dynamic and historically complex capital to life. Our young, energetic guides - described as ‘the most charismatic and entertaining guides in the business’ (Cosmopolitan Magazine 2005) - are excellent at engaging interest in all that Berlin has to offer. Graduates of some of the world’s leading universities (from Yale to Columbia to Cambridge), our native English-speaking guides are focused on pedagogic learning, and believe that using anecdotes and storytelling is the best way to bring their extensive knowledge to life.

AND! Because we believe in the value of education, we are pleased to offer student groups our SANDEMANs NEW EUROPE Educational Discount of 10% off our regular private tour prices.

What do you see on our general tour?

Our 3.5 hour general English language walking tour goes deeper than just introducing the sites: we delve into the city’s divided history - from its beginnings as a swampy village, through its darkest hours during the inter- and post-war years, to its brightest moments upon reunification in 1989.

We start off at the symbol of Germany: the Brandenburg Gate. From the Reichstag we follow the line of the Wall, through the Nazi Government District to Checkpoint Charlie. After a break we head through the 1920s Cabaret Mile, over Berlin’s grandest square – Gendarmenmarkt – past the Nazi Book Burning Memorial to finish on Museum Island. The tour concludes in the beautiful surroundings of the Lustgarten – the old royal gardens – in the heart of the city, where the demonstrations that collapsed the Berlin wall gathered in 1989, all a stone’s throw from some of the best museums in the world.

The walking tour covers all the main sites, such as:

• The Brandenburg Gate
• The Reichstag
• Hitler’s Bunker
• The new Holocaust Memorial
• Potsdamer Platz
• The Berlin Wall
• Checkpoint Charlie
• Museum Island
• The former SS Headquarters
and much more.

If your class is coming to Berlin to explore a specific aspect of the city, don't hesitate to contact us and we will tailor a private tour according to your preferences. Anything is possible, and we have a reputation of making doors open that are usually locked shut. From WWII Bunkers to the German Houses of Parliament, give us enough notice and we'll get you in.

Here's what other school group organisers said about our tours recently:

"…your tours were excellent and great fun! Thank you once again! I will certainly book the tours for next January with you again…" Anja Isabel Flade, Bavarian Youth Ring - January 2007

"Hi, I just wanted to say that our group of 20+ Australian school students (aged 14/16) took the Berlin walking trip with Per last October & had a BRILLIANT time! It takes a lot to impress these kids but PER had them listening to every word & they are still putting him down as the highlight of the whole school language exchange program. " Martyn Paterson - February 2006

"We just wanted to write to thank you again for our tour on Saturday. Everyone we talked to had nothing but the highest praise for your guides, and it seems like they all enjoyed their trip immensely. We have recommended to our colleagues here at the office that they use your company in their next trip to Berlin (our school comes three times a year). thanks and praise." Alaina, Copenhagen - July 2006

"We really enjoyed the pub crawl and the free tour this past weekend! Your company does an excellent job, the students were very excited about the tours.  Thanks a lot for your help." Amy, The American International University in London - January 2007

'I went on the free New Berlin walking tour with my school exchange group way back in January 2006. Although it was freezing cold the tour was awesome and our tour guide did not appear faltered by the heat (or lack thereof!) and showed a real articulate passion and enthusiasm for a city he clearly loves. (He kept the younger students interested, a real skill!) I'll never forget Nick's quote "my watch says it's hot chocolate o-clock!" oh and not to mention all the fantastically German stuff we did & learnt about on this grand tour- it's the budding Germanophile's delight!'
Laura, Adelaide, Australia - March 2007

'I just wanted to say how much our two groups enjoyed the walking tours you laid on for us in Berlin last month.  Some of the students even said it was the highlight of the visit - making it better than Sachsenhausen, Checkpoint Charlie, the Reichstag, the Resistance museum and the Olympic Stadium! Particular thanks to Nick and Desiree who made the tours lively and interesting... Our next planned visit to Berlin will be in February 2009, but we wondered if you had a sister-company in Munich, as we're thinking of going there in February 2008. Thanks again, and we'll look forward to next time.'
Stephen Hudson, Holy Cross College, Lancashire – May 2007
