Brandenburg Gate - Berlin

The Brandenburg Gate was built in 1791, construction started in 1788. A few years later, Irene Goddess of Peace riding a chariot was added to the top, bringing peace into Berlin. Shortly afterwards Napoleon conquered Berlin and stole it, putting it into his private museum, the Louvre. When the Berliners got their statue back, they changed the name of the square to Paris Square and changed her name to Viktoria, the Goddess of Victory. However, Napoleon was not the last man to march through the Gate...
