Former SS HQ - Berlin
Behind the section of wall we'll discuss on the tour used to stand two buildings: the SS and Gestapo headquarters. Everything that those organisations did started right here. They left the land as a ruin, making a statement about the ruin of that dictatorship. Today it’s a memorial site with a museum and archive. Whilst they were saving that land, the Wall got saved too - by lucky coincidence.
The Topography of Terror is free, in English and open until 8pm in summer, 6pm or dusk off-season.
