The Berlin Wall - Berlin
The wall started as barbed wire in 1961. Many expect at least barbed wire on top but instead there’s a strange tube which was a lot more effective than barbed wire. Barbed wire was making it easier to escape; it was something to hold onto and pull yourself to the other side. The tube doesn’t seem too scary but it was exactly the wrong shape to hold onto, you just can’t get a grip.
The Wall is full of holes, the wallpeckers having chipped away at it - today the Wall needs a fence to protect itself!
